I'm irfan.. no, i'm not mailing u to put up one of those army stories.. i'm going to be enlisted to tekong soon.. 12 march.. and CD paramedics (i applied to sign on there) ask me to go for an interview. At the same time, i've got this gutty feeling that Army might be the better choice.. i'll like to hear a personal opinion from those who served in the army be4.. can u help me out by telling me how army life is? I'm really sorry irfan, but as they say, the Army experience is indescribable. Unfortunately, you only realise this ocne you've been in it long enough and actually try to describe it to someone else. Depending on where you go you see a different facet of Army life, and i'm afraid my own little telescopic view will do injustice to the system as a whole, however crappy it may be.
yeah i agree whole-heartedly. u gotta experience it for urself. actually, i've had friends from the police/scdf who tell me that they kinda want to go army, after hearing so many stories about how we'll remember bmt for the rest of our lives blah blah, or how the sgt make us run to random trees in tekong touch them and come back blah blah. u might want to tell irfan to hold off on the signing on and experience army life for a while before making a decision.
Thanks guys.. Hrmm.. i hate to be in a dilemma. Actually, i applied for Police too, they replied but i'm not thinking of going to that organization. Now it's between Paramedics and Army..hrmmm...but do u guys have time for ya family when you sign on?? that's my main concern.
I don't think anyone here is a regular, so hard to say. But I have friends who are, and they seem to be doing ok, and it looks like it's a job where they look after most aspects of your life.

Well I'm about to become a regular, but speaking to my OCS instructors most of whom are regulars, once you sign on long enough your job kinda becomes as important as your family; it's like you have 2 families. If you're married some nights you'll be like "hey dear I'm going out with some army buddies, I know you'll ask why I always go our with them, what's there to keep talking about but I'm afraid I can't tell you because it's something only Army people will understand". Eventually it won't be a question of whether you have enough time for your family, more of whether you can find a way to integrate both.
